The client wanted a logo that represented his excavating business, with a west coast feel. He wanted to feature the types of conifers we have on the west coast, so I merged the long stately silhouette of a coniferous tree with the arm of an excavator. It had to be a logo with flexibility, since it could potentially be used on a t-shirt, truck door, business card, or excavator arm, so I designed the logo to be able to shift and swap the positions of the icon and letterforms while still keeping the integrity of the design.
